The Boneyard Review, Shoreditch | Bone Marrow Burger & Chilli Chips
The Boneyard’s chilli chips are one of the best things I’ve eaten in Shoreditch.
After my first enjoyable visit to The Pump in Shoreditch (Los Pibes review), I was back to try another vendor, The Boneyard.
Still looking to add to my best burgers in London guide (although I think I found it in the shape of Burger Bear (review)), I ordered a single patty bone marrow burger (£7,50). I really wanted 24hr Hickory Smoked St Louis Ribs (£5.50) but I still have a stupid ‘no ribs in public’ rule. I saw someone try to tackle theirs with knife and fork and I don’t want to be that guy.
I didn’t know what bone marrow was, but I’m always up for trying new foods. I’ve just looked it up and the description of bone marrow and it isn’t too appealing. Look away now if you’re squeamish.
No wonder it tasted and felt less meaty than a regular beef burger. Topped with roasted tomatoes and cheese, it was a little more springy and spongy that a regular beef burger but still leaked juice all over my hands.
I’m starting to get a little bored of chips and fries as a side order. Writing reviews about them can be difficult because, let’s face it, they are pretty much all the same – crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside (Honest Burger’s fries (review) are an exception). But I ordered chilli chips anyway as The Boneyard didn’t have my first choice of side in stock – tatter tots.
The chilli chips (£5.50) were not what I was expecting. I thought it would be fries with spicy seasoning on top. But they were so much better than that – I fricken’ love surprises (food surprises especially).
Instead, the chilli chips were more like crisps (waffle style) with chilli con carne and two types of cheeses, making the side more nacho style. It’s the best thing I’ve had in a while.
And finally I had a chocolate milkshake which tasted like a cold creamy hot chocolate.
The seating outdoor is mega awkward. The tables are far too low to be eating at. Even still, I would happily have food down my front as a trade off for eating their chilli chips (seriously they were that good!). They do have a restaurant with indoor seating with bar tables and stools, but seems to be shut during lunch time.http://www.elitetravelblog.com/boneyard-review-shoreditch/London Food ReviewsBurgers, shoreditchThe Boneyard's chilli chips are one of the best things I've eaten in Shoreditch.
