How To Explore London In Just 24 Hours
London is vast and with just twenty four hours to work with, it is impossible to see everything in one go. So instead of wasting your time endlessly queuing for the latest tourist trap, here are some alternatives that will give you a truly memorable experience of your time in the capital.
1) BREAKFAST: Frizzante Cafe
With an action packed day ahead of you, a good old fashioned English fry up is essential and for an atmosphere to rival the food on your plate, head down to Frizzante. The café is located right next to Hackney City Farm and offers a charming escape from the hustle and bustle of a London morning. Locally sourced food (including vegetables from their very own on site garden) is served throughout the day and with Broadway Market and Brick Lane not far away, it’s the perfect starting point for your journey.
2) MORNING: Camden Market:
Camden has long been the home to the bohemian, the stylish, and the downright weird and its maze of markets, which run seven days a week, offer the perfect place to lose a few hours as you go in search of a bargain. If you tire of shopping then, with almost as many bars and restaurants as stalls, Camden is also the perfect place to indulge in some people watching… if you can find your way out of the labyrinth!
3) AFTERNOON: London Zoo
The world’s oldest scientific Zoo, ZLS London Zoo offers a fun day for all the family. Time will fly as you make your way through the 36 acres of Regent’s Park that make up the complex and with over 750 species of animals; from the awe-inspiring mountain gorillas to the smaller meerkats and penguins, there is always something new waiting for you around the corner. The zoo also holds several dedicated shows per day and be sure not to miss out on the feeding of the latest arrivals; two Sumatran tigers Jae Jae and Malati.
4) EVENING : Knock2bag comedy night.
London comes alive at night and it’s possible to find an entertaining evening in any one of the 32 boroughs, but if you want a sure fire way of ensuring a laughter-packed evening then head to knock2bag comedy nights. With two venues (Shepherds Bush and Notting Hill) there is no excuse for not getting a ticket. Even if one comedian doesn’t tickle your funny bone, by the end of the evening you are bound to find someone amongst the jam-packed bill who has you in stitches.
5) WHERE TO STAY
Whatever you decide to do with your unexpected extra day in London, one thing is for certain; you will need somewhere to stay. After a busy day of exploration no one wants the added hassle of searching the streets for a place to rest. Having been in this position myself, I would recommend BHRC (British Hotel Reservation Centre) as the perfect resource to help make that final step of the trip stress-free.
