Travelling by yourself can be one of the best things you can do for yourself.

It can even be a journey of self exploration and not just exploring a new place.  However travelling solo can sometime have its challenges that is especially true if you are a woman. Of course some places may offer cheap shopping or others may have exotic locations but obviously there are safety concerns and in some places solo female travelers may not be that welcomed. There are always stories in the news about female traveler who were sexually abused. Then some places might try to take advantage of you by charging you more when they see you alone, or if you have to walk alone in the night there are more chances of getting mugged and so on.

Obviously there are certain things one must keep in mind when planning to take a trip all alone. But of course women travel alone all the time and there are some very cool and safe places that you can go exploring all by yourself without any concerns. Iceland

Iceland is considered one of the best honeymoon destinations for couples but the country is equally safe and ideal if you want to travel alone. Within a few kilometers you will come across massive lava formations, towering geysers, immense waterfalls and grassy highlands which gradually transform into low landscapes. Ireland offers astonishing natural beauty and the environment is perfect if you want to just get away from the hustle and bustle of city life. However, if all the country life gets too much for you, you can enjoy a day in the very happening capital of the country Dublin. Ireland is considered one of the friendliest countries in the world with one of the lowest crime rates making is just about perfect for female solo travelers. You can find some of the best pubs there which offer great music and the accommodation is also very reasonable. Cultural adjustment is of course not an issue either, as English is the native language there.

Copenhagen, Denmark

Copenhagen is the largest city of Denmark and its capital too. The city has an amazing architecture with rivers flowing in the middle. The place offers great food and shopping experience. Denmark is quite safe and if you are one of those who is fond of taking strolls under the stars you can do so without giving it a second thought in this city. In the midst of the old city area there is the fountain of the Gefjun goddess. The fountain tells the mythical tale of how Denmark was built. The fountain is washed in blue lights in the night giving it an alluring glow. The country has many folklores belonging to the Norse religious history, street side cafes and museums. Copenhagen remains a busy travel destination almost all year round so if you plan a trip to the city make sure you book your hotel well in advance to get a good bargain.

Thailand happens to be one of the safest destinations for solo women travelers in the world. The country has so much to offer that you will hardly feel lonely. From some of the world’s best beaches to water sports, to shopping, to temples and off course the capital Bangkok has the cheapest shopping options available. Thailand is one of the most affordable travel destinations as well with many accommodation options. If you go to Phuket you can also visit one of the many nearby islands during the day and always come back to your base and enjoy the amazing night life there without any safety concern.

Singapore

Singapore is considered the second safest country in the world and one of the safest in south East Asia. The country has an extremely low crime rate and you will almost feel like you are in a wonderland where nothing can go possibly wrong. Just a word of caution it also happens to be one of the most expensive cities in the world. Some might feel it is very small but this small country has a lot to offer in terms of entertainment. Singapore has some of the world’s finest restaurants, amazing museums and an endless array of outdoor activities and it even has its own Disneyland. Singapore has an amazing public transportation system so commuting is a piece of cake.

These are just some of the places which you can explore on your own. Of course there are many other places too. When you plan your vacation just make sure you check the weather conditions in advance. Also, if you are travelling alone it is a good idea to let your friends and family know of your plans and also see if there is anyone you know in that country that you can turn to for help if needed.
