The rising number of ski resorts in Japan has been attributed by the ever growing number of people wanting to master the art of skiing. Skiing is a winter sporting activity that involves the use of long runners, commonly known as skis that are attached to boots or shoes. The long runners are then used to travel over ice or snow. The special art of skiing requires lots of skills to master. With the ever rising number of people looking for ways to master the skiing techniques, there have been great developments of different types of skiing methods. These methods of skiing can be broadly classified as either freestyle skiing or cross-country skiing.
There are more than five hundred registered ski resorts in Japan that are widely known for the high level of skiing services they offer. Most of these resorts are located in the northern island of Hokkaido and the southern mainland of Kyushu. Shiga Kogen Ski Resort
Shiga Kogen ski resort is situated in the main island of Kyushu and is highly regarded as the largest skiable piece of land in Japan. - Hakuba Ski Resort
Hakuba ski resort is located in the northwest of Nagano Prefecture, in the main island of Kyushu. The resort is a perfect destination for downhill skiing. This resort is well known for hosting the 1998 downhill events in the Winter Olympics.
It is important to note that there are a number of emerging ski resorts in Japan that are doing well as travel destinations for skiers. Most of these emerging ski resorts in Japan are located in the southern main island of Kyushu. The Metropolitan city of Tokyo is known to have no registered ski resorts, although there are favorable conditions that allow skiing in this world class city.
