Let’s Play ‘Have You Met Tim?’ | Ten Questions About Me
Yes, I’ve totes ripped this off from ‘have you met Ted’ from How I Met Your Mother.
1. What’s made you really laugh recently?
I just listened to the first (and last) podcast I took part in about my travel blog (yes, I have too much time on my hands). I have the face for radio, but not the voice! I’ve tried but I can’t shake off my Scottish, monotone mumble 🙁
2. If you had to choose one food to live on what would it be?
You can’t ask a foodie that, Naomi! If you’ve read my blog, you’ll probably know I’ve got a burger addiction (guide to the best gourmet burgers in London). Although, if I ate nothing but burgers, I’m not sure how long I would live!
Maybe eggs? Highly versatile (scrambled, boiled, fried etc) and at least has protein? That would be my sensible answer.
Although, I can easily eat a tube of Pringles in one sitting (sour cream and onion especially). Normal people usually stop when they can’t fit their hand in the tube, a clear sign they might have had too much, but I see this as a challenge and accept.
3. What did you want to be when you were little?
A footballer. If you met me now, you’d never know it but I was obsessed with football and played pretty much every day as a kid from about the age of six to fourteen. I gradually lost interest in football as I grew up. I also realised I wasn’t good enough to make it as a pro and now get my kicks in the SEO world!
4. If you could have one superpower what would it be?
Errr… Being able to cook? Not really a superpower I know, but I can’t cook to save myself! Maybe being able to zap anything into food, that’s a little more superhero-y? I could feed the poor (not to mention whip up a snack when I felt peckish – burger anyone?)
Flying or teleporting would be pretty useful too. I could go back home to Glasgow and see my dog easily and I could travel around the world too.
5. What is the best thing you’ve ever done?
I’d say scuba diving in Nice. I can’t swim but still thought it would be a great idea to try scuba diving. ‘I can’t swim in the local pool, but the big open wide sea might be somehow different?’ I thought. Who knew it would be the same, only worse!
I splashed around and panicked to the point I didn’t want to do it. But I managed to calm the fuck down and finally got used to using the breathing equipment. It was only 20 minutes underwater, but it was amazing. And I’m quite proud of myself for not giving in too.
Staying on a private island that Will and Kate used in the Seychelles comes pretty close too.
6. Three things you can’t live without?
Music. I listen to music in the morning as I get ready. I listen to music during the day. And listen to music in bed. As interests come and go as I grow up, my interest in music has remained pretty constant. I’m pretty proud of some of my Spotify playlists.
My phone! I recently found out I’m super reliant on my phone as it’s getting repaired. I lasted three days before having to buy a temporary one. I just found I was missing out on Whatsapp conversations, Twitter and Instagram, catching up on my favourite websites on my commute, taking photos and listening to music!
A camera. My memory is pretty rubbish. A bit like the guy in Momento, I need to photos to remind myself. Okay, not to the same extent of course! My travel photos remind me of great moments. So much so, I have my favourites displayed on my living room wall.
I also made a small photo book from the last five years of travelling, reminding me what I’ve seen and some great memories.
7. Name a destination that’s on your list to visit and why
The Italian Riviera. It’s been on my list for a few years now and I only travel once a year on my birthday, but budgets have been a bit tight. I’m not sure what it is about the Italian Riviera that attracts me. I do love being by the seaside. I guess it’s the colourful houses that I’m most looking forward to photographing, while I also love Italian food too. And I loved the three brief hours I spent in Lake Como. Maybe 2016 will be the year?
8. Who or what inspires you the most?
Hmmm. This is a real thinker. No one person really inspires me. I like hearing stories in general of people who have battled or overcome the odds to make something of themselves.
9. What is your favourite recipe?
We’ve established I can’t cook! I do an okay brownie I guess. Mine are special because I added top the brownies with popping candy. You can see my recipe for a red adzuki bean brownie trifle.
10. What keeps you blogging?
I like writing. My first job involved writing blog posts, but my line of work has changed so I’m not that creative anymore. I guess the blog is my creative outlet. It’s also a great way to keep track of what I’ve seen and done. I like sharing my photos too. Recently, I had my photo used in a magazine called This England.
Little things like being invited to blogger meet-ups and events also make it worth while. The blog will also be featuring in a new London app called Sidekix – watch this space!
11. If you could chose anywhere to live, where would it be?
I’m considering moving to New York sometime in the future. I spent three days there when I was around 11 or 12 years old, but can’t remember much of it unfortunately.
I see New York being very similar to London. Great food, culture, sports and there’d be a ton more gigs I’d want to go to too. I also love the American accent. The weather is a bit more extreme on both scales I guess. I could live in London and New York if I had those flying/teleporting powers…
