Who in their right mind looks at a scotch egg and thinks to them self ‘yeah, cut it in half and it would make a pretty awesome burger bun’.

The weird genius minds of Yeah! Burger that’s who. I bet even Heston Blumenthal would look at this Frankenstein of a creation and think a scotch egg burger is taking things too far.

A science experiment gone right, like Lisa from Weird Science.

Yet, the £12 Scotch Ness Monster (pun food names are never not funny) works somehow. It shouldn’t and almost feels wrong.

Scotch Ness Monster Yeah! Burger review
A boiled egg sandwiched between meat and meat – does it get any better than this?

The scotch egg buns make it huge and impossible to fit into your mouth no matter what angle you try – I didn’t even attempt it. In normal circumstances you can flatten a traditional bread bun with your hand, but luckily The Strongroom provide a knife and fork to tame the beast. Cutting the scotch egg (which is massive btw) makes a satisfying crunch to reveal it packed with meat.

It’s not just the make-shift scotch egg bun that makes this a tasty burger. Replace the scotch eggs with regular bread buns and you’re left with a great burger in it’s own rights.

The thick, aged beef patty is soft and springy in equal measures, like chewing a mattress (in a good way). The pickled red onions make your mouth water as soon as it hits your tongue – it’s incredibly sweet.

Tongue salivating sweetness, juicy meaty and uniqueness of the buns make the Scotch Ness Monster one of the best burgers in London and competes with the likes of the Greedy Burger by Burger Bear for my overall favourite.
