When you visit Dubrovnik, the city walls is a must-see attraction; the walls were first built in the 9th century, and you can circle the city, viewing the blue sea and the stunning Old Town. For Game of Thrones fans, the city now offers tours of filming locations, where you can recreate famous scenes.
History lovers rejoice, Rome is the place to truly connect with the medieval world while enjoying the wonders of modern life. It is one of the oldest cities in the world, and the incredible architecture of some of the most famous empires in history still stands to this day. This includes the Colosseum, which was first constructed in AD 72, and was a hub of entertainment, featuring gladiatorial contest and mock battles for the Roman citizens centuries ago. Today, it is one of the biggest attractions in Rome, with a museum dedicated to Eros (the God of desire) on the upper floor.
While part of the fun of backpacking is to carry what you need with you, there are solutions if you want to take extra luggage, use a luggage storage network. You can simply drop off your luggage and explore Rome easily.
The Hungarian capital, Budapest has its own stunning architecture to rival Rome, and is nicknamed the ‘City of Spas.’ The nickname is for a very good reason; the city features a selection of thermal baths, each with their own fascinating architecture. For a backpacker, they are the ideal place to relax and unwind, taking time out of a busy, walking schedule. Budapest’s quirky and beautiful Art Nouveau streets make it the perfect place to take Instagram shots, especially with landmarks such as the Holy Trinity Column.
