We’re back with a new travel blogger interview. Kicking us off is one half of More Passport Stamps – Alan! Check out the other half of More Passport Stamps, Gemma, answers for a fuller overview of their travels.
Why do you love travel?
It broadens horizons, and although I learn about many aspects of a culture when I visit, I always learn something about myself too.
What destination is top of your bucket list?
It has to be Botswana. It looks unbelievable, but I haven’t been yet because I want to have at least a month there.
Where is your most favourite place you have travelled to?
Costa Rica, because I had the most fun there. The people are nice, the weather was great, the rainforests and beaches are unparalleled and I could have spent a year there easily. Beautiful place.
What is your most favourite memory or experience whilst travelling?
As you would expect there are tens of thousands but to pick one from the top of my head I would say Los Angeles. One Saturday night we went to watch L.A. Galaxy play football and had a great time, but afterwards we took a wrong turn out of the stadium and ended up getting lost in Compton with no satnav. I always assumed that films would make Compton out to look worse than it really is, but they don’t, it’s all true! There were gangs on street corners and sat in porches with red or blue bandanas covering their faces and we were the only car on the roads for several kilometres. We daren’t stop so eventually got to the airport, totally the opposite side of LA to where we needed to be! Hair-raising, informative and a great experience, that was nearly our last!
What is your favourite photo from your travels?
I think Gemma would kill me if I chose one where she is being grumpy, but I find them hilarious! So I guess I’ll go for a photo that comes with a lot of memories. This was taken during our barbecue meal on the beach outside our beach hut in the Perhentian Islands, Malaysia.
