I love having travellers who have visited a wide range of places around the world, answer our Five Travel Questions. With no further introduction, here is Dianne from Slight North telling us about why she loves Thailand and her epic experience of Mount Everest!

Why do you love travel?
I love to travel because it helps me break free of the expectations, stress, and anxieties of the “real world”. When I’m laying on a beach in the Caribbean or trekking through the Himalayas in Nepal, it’s easy to let my worries slide away and remember what really matters… enjoying the beauty of this world, the company of those I love, and living in the present moment.
What destination is top of your bucket list?
Tough question! For as long as I’ve remembered I’ve been absolutely dying to visit Cape Town in South Africa, but I haven’t made it there yet. I also really want to visit Vietnam as well.
Where is your most favourite place you have travelled to?
Oh man. Such a hard choice. I think it’s a toss up between Thailand and Germany. Thailand because the amazing temples, delicious foods, crazy markets and beautiful beaches were just so exotic and different from anywhere I had been. The whole vibe of the country was also very laid back and everything was so cheap so I was able to do and see a lot on my three week trip. Germany is another favorite because I visited Berlin over Christmas and the snow, old architecture, and Christmas markets were just so magical and quintessentially European it was amazing. Also, the food can’t be beat!
What is your most favourite memory or experience whilst travelling?
Hmm. So many great ones to choose from. Watching Mount Everest come into view for the first time from behind the clouds was pretty spectacular. Not only was it a totally awe inspiring sight, it was also a realization for me that I reached my goal of living a life based on travel. Everest is a “once in a lifetime” bucket list item for so many, but for me to be able to afford to do the trek and see it at a young age was just a cool validation that I’ve been able to make my travel dreams that I’ve had since a child come true, and that was a really great feeling!
What is your favourite photo from your travels?
This photo my husband took in one of our penthouse stays in Medellin, Colombia is one of my favorites! It was when Slight North was just launched and it all just felt so crazy to me that people we’re letting us stay in and review their luxury homes!
