Today we have Kiwi Liz from Passport Packed telling us about her travels after quitting her job, selling her car and packing her suitcase on an unknown adventure!

Why do you love travel?
I like knowing things and meeting new people, and I think this is at the heart of the way I travel.
What destination is top of your bucket list?
I really want to get to Cuba! Unfortunately getting there from Auckland isn’t easy, and as such flights are pretty expensive… But I’m saving for it, and determined to get there!
I’m also pretty keen on Buenos Aires – but for more of a living situation, rather than just a holiday. I’ve never been to South America before, but I just have a feeling that I could live there quite happily – I had the same feeling about Spain before I moved there and that worked out great – so I think I might just have to move there.
Where is your most favourite place you have travelled to?
It’s really hard to pick a favourite… but probably Spain. I lived there for nearly 2 years, and was just totally besotted by the culture and lifestyle there. Spain is an amazing place, with each region offering something totally unique to the others. I especially love the north of Spain, areas like Santander, San Sebastian and Santiago de Compostela, are all so different and beautiful , with amazing natural features and delicious food!
What is your most favourite memory or experience whilst travelling?
Again, there’s so many to choose from, but I think for this one I’ll stick with a Vespa tour I did in Vietnam through the Mekong Delta. It was amazing. It was my first trip abroad solo, and I really wasn’t sure what to expect at all, especially in a place so foreign to everything I knew. I randomly ended up on this scooter tour, as I was nervous about being alone. Turned out to be the best part of the trip. We whizzed out of the city, through rural markets, canals and rice fields. I saw the most amazing things, and witnessed first hand how crazy driving in Ho Chi Minh’s traffic really is. I totally recommend it, and love looking back at photos from that tour.
What is your favourite photo from your travels?
My favourite photo is probably one I took in Madrid, in my final week there. It’s of one of my favourite views – looking toward the Metropolis Building on Gran Via, and it just totally reminds me of all the reasons I love Madrid, and the amazing 2 years I spent there.

I also love Barcelona, everything about Barcelona.
