Will – Going Awesome Places | Five Travel Questions

I’ve been travelling for a long time now and I think one of the big reasons why I love travelling is because of the sheer size of the globe.  You realize pretty quickly that there’s so much of the world to see and not enough time to see it all.  For me, travel is about exploring the world, meeting new people, creating lasting memories, learning new cultures and trying new things.  It’s one of the few things in life that is truly priceless.

Climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania is probably the biggest and most daunting item on my bucket list.  There’s something about the planning, training, challenge and conquering of the climb that make it such a tantalizing goal.  My hope is that I’ll be able to take on Mount Kili in the next 2-3 years.  Bundle that with a safari and it has the makings of another epic adventure.

This is a hard one to pick just one but if I had to pinpoint one place, I have to say New Zealand as a country and more specifically the South Island.  The scenery is as beautiful as they say and so full of life and adventure.  Here are some of the photos from that trip.

One of my favourite memories more recently was my time in Bali, Indonesia.  What made it special was for one I was with my girlfriend but also having a trip that was the perfect balance of luxury, R&R, adventure, exploration, culture and food.  It was 5 days of pure bliss in Bali.  What made it an even more special trip was our driver, Putu Arnawa who led us to a bunch of unexpected stops along the way to really give us a glimpse into local Balinese life.  Read more about those perfect 5 days and what tips & tricks I learned and my story with The Planet D on how we got a different perspective of Bali through Putu.

This has to be the most epic photo I have ever taken on any trip I’ve done.  Driving out from Moab in Utah at 3AM in the morning to get to Mesa Arch in Canyonlands National Park was totally worth it to watch the sun rise from the horizon and beam its fiery light to uncover the vastness of the canyons below and turn the underside of the arch a glowing orange.
