This epic shot was one that required the most work to set up. I woke up in the middle of the night at 3AM to pack up from Moab and head towards Canyonlands National Park. In the pitch dark, I reached the parking lot for Mesa Arch and set up the tripod and camera by around 4AM with my trusty headlamp. Light started seeping through the horizon by 4:30AM and with a decent sized crowd around me we all started to snap shots like crazy. I had just learned the HDR technique prior to this trip and I thought this would be a great chance to try it out. As you can see from the results, it worked out beautifully. This is still perhaps one of my most favorite shoots I have ever done.
