BattleKart Review, Sittingbourne: Real Life Mario Kart?

BattleKarts is one the most fun experiences I’ve had in Kent.

At £19.50 an adult for 15 mins, is BattleKarts really worth the price? If you’re used to experiences in London like The Cube or Toca Social, you may be used to paying these sorts of prices for fun experiences for only an hour or two. Read on to find out everything you need to know before making a decision.

How similar is BattleKarts vs Mario Kart?

Having grown up playing Mario Kart on Super Nintendo, the experience felt incredibly realistic. I could have happily played all day. The track is projected on the ground along with the weapons you can drive over and collect. You then select and fire your weapons from a screen. When you are hit by a weapon or run over a banana peel or oil, your electric kart stops. When the race ends, you’re given a ranking in the group.

BattleKarts is more than just Mario Kart racing

BattleKarts isn’t just about racing. There’s six to choose from:

  • BattleRace – Mario Kart style racing
  • BattleVirus – where everyone works together in order to defeat an enemy
  • BattleColour – teams drive around to colour the most tiles
  • BattleSnake – collect the most without crashing otherwise you start again
  • BattleFoot – a Rocket League type football match
  • BattlePool – two teams battle to pocket the most balls
  • Seasonal – currently Halloween and Christmas

I played BattleRace, BattleVirus, BattleColour and BattleSnake. BattleRace and BattleVirus were two favourite games.

Tips when booking BattleKarts

Who ever registers first gets to choose the games, so it can be a bit of a lottery. For example, we didn’t get to play football which I would have really liked to. When booking, you’ll see free slots in green where you can choose the games vs partially booked slots in yellow where someone has already chosen the games. If you click into a partially booked slot, you can see what games have been selected for a session if you have your heart set on a particular game.

I found the 30 minutes went by very quickly. If you can afford it, I would recommend booking an hour. At the time of writing, there is a Groupon offer of 2 games for £30 (21% off)

How safe is BattleKarts?

While the karts are pretty quick and nimble, they have an anti-collision feature making the experience incredibly safe). So if you’re worried about the dangers of fast paced go karting, Battle Karts is perfect for you or for younger children (there’s no need to wear a helmet at Battle Karts).

Address and amenities

There’s also free parking directly outside the venue, a cafe, toilets and arcade games on the ground floor in case you need even more challenges. There are only two other BattleKart locations in the UK, St Albans and Gateshead.
