Where To Get The Best Pizzas In Margate

Not only is Margate home to the best restaurants in Kent, it also has a great selection of pizzerias which even rival the best London spots. Here’s a guide to everything from huge slices to authentic Neapolitans.

Palms Pizzeria

If you’re missing the huge slices of pizza in London fear not, Palms Pizzeria has all your 20″ needs. A whole 20″ pizza costs £30 while slices range from £4-£6. Menu highlights include:

  • house pie – palms marinara, pepperoni, stracciatella, hot honey, basil, black pepper, parm
  • house pie veggie – white base w/ wild mushrooms, truffle oil, fior di latte, parm, parsley, lemon zest
  • classic margherita – palms marinara, fior di latte, mozzarella, parmesan, basil
  • vegan margherita – palms marinara, vegan mozzarella, confit garlic, basil
  • pepperoni – palms marinara, fior di latte, pepperoni, jalepenos, parsley, parm
  • fennel sausage, nduja, broc, red onion – palms marinara, fior di latte, fennel sausage, nduja, broccoli, red onion, parm, lemon zest, chili oil
  • pesto broccoli – palms marinara, fior di latte, tenderstem broccoli, palms house pesto, parm, parsley, lemon zest

There’s also a special pizza which changes every month and they serve house beers, house wines and even shots (mystery shot anyone?!). Palms Pizzeria in Margate won two awards at the 2023 National Pizza Awards: Pizza Chef of the Year (for Joshua Ward) and the Bloggers’ Choice Award.

You’ll find all the popular toppings including four-maggi, diavola and funghi to classic Italian offerings like capricciosa, Napoli and boscaiola (and a weekly special). There’s also vegan and gluten free options. Pair your pizza with aperitifs, beers and wines.

The Pickled Fox

The ham and pineapple on pizza debate is as fraught as is Die Hard a Christmas movie. If you’re pro movement, The Pickled Fox has you covered (they say it’s strangely popular so you’ll be amongst friends at least). They serve Neopolitan-style pizzas cooked in a traditional pizza oven so it’s a good option if you don’t want to walk to Casa Pizzeria in Cliftonville (although the menu selection is much smaller). They’re located in the Market Place which is a terrific place to dine alfresco if the sun is shinning.

GB Pizza Co

If you prefer you pizzas thin and crispy, head to GB Pizza Co. Conveniently located by the sea front, they’ve been slinging pizzas with a huge focus on local cheeses and British cured meats since 2012. One of the more intriguing items on the menu is the pear and Kentish blue cheese on ricotta base. They even have a charity pizza where 50p goes to The Brain Tumour charity (at the time of writing). And from 1st July their serving handheld pizzas if you want to dine on the beach.

Their dessert menu is one of the best on this list if you still have room, with tiramisu, chocolate brownie and Taywell ice creams and sorbet to choose from. Wash down your slice with the best local beers and lagers from Northdown Brewery in Margate, Shepherd Neame in Faversham and craft ales by Docker Brewery in Folkestone.
