Best Coffee in Margate (mapped)
Curve Coffee
I absolutely adore Curve Coffee for their principles, which is why they’re first in the list.
Curve Coffee places the sourcing of green coffee at the heart of its operations, building long-term relationships and thoroughly understanding its supply chains to positively impact growing communities. The company primarily collaborates with small-scale farmers and carefully chosen exporting and importing partners who share their commitment to maximizing value for producers. By purchasing Curve Coffee’s products, customers complete the value chain, directly improving many people’s lives and supporting their livelihoods. Curve Coffee also travels to origin countries to understand growers’ stories and challenges, despite the significant carbon footprint of such journeys. You can also purchase Curve Coffee to take home whilst their food menu offers everything from pillowy-soft focaccia sandwiches, bread pudding french toast and salads. It’s a bit hidden away from the main roads, but it’s worth visiting this area for Palms Pizzeria and drinks at Where Else? or Pomus Margate also.

Big Shot
I had a coffee and grilled cheese sandwich here on the morning of my wedding – that’s how much I like Big Shot. They offer the usual coffees and additions like filter with free refill for £3.20, cold brews and iced teas and lattes for the summer months.
Big Shot also has one of the best views to have your coffee with large windows with a sea view or you can sit outside on the benches. Their food menu serves delicious all-day breakfasts like burritos, belgian waffles and even a bottomless brunch. Look out for THE CURE! Meal Deal –
Any grilled cheese sandwich and glass of coke on ice and Bloody Mary OR mimosa.
Big Shot is usually busy (which just highlights how good other people think it is, but don’t be fooled from looking in the window, they have seating in the basement too.

Forts Cafe
Another hidden gem past the Old Town, you might miss Forts Cafe on your way to photograph Margate’s famous Lido sign. Expect special hand brews and guest espressos where they collaborate with indie coffee manufacturers.
Forts is my favourite cafe for food in Margate too. Their menu consists of french toast combinations that rival any in London, meatball focaccia and scrambled eggs on sourdough toast. They don’t take bookings and it’s usually busy.

Giants Coffee
Giants Coffee may be a newcomer on the scene having been opened in 2024, but they’ve already become a local favourite. Well you can’t miss the shop, it’s bright blue (some of the food and drink is bright blue too). They’re serving up santo beans from Brazil and a plant based and vegan menu. Giants Coffee might also be the place to get your matcha and toastie fix in Margate.

Doubloons
If you’re with someone who isn’t a coffee person, Doubloons is the place to go. Aside from their inventive cold brews (cherry cola anyone?!), matchas and espressos, you’ll also find lemonades, limeades, soda floats and seltzers. Everything is made in house too. I think Doubloons is my favourite coffee place to relax in. They have great interior taste and it feels like kicking back at home. Cliftonville is underrated and definitely worth the walk from the beach and old town.

Cliffs
Another gem in Cliftonville, Cliffs is the place I go to dig for vinyl records. It just so happens Cliffs has an incredible menu too. If you’re looking for a wide range of options when it comes to food, Cliffs has light breakfasts, big breakfasts, crumpet sliders and toasties.

High Tide Social & Play Cafe
I think High Tide Social & Play Cafe are legends. Why hasn’t anyone else thought of serving up delicious food and drink (including a great kids menu and rotisserie!) whilst having an area for kids to play? This is the place for parents to meet up in Margate and have a catch up for sure. They often host events such as parent and baby meet up, craft clubs, half term activities and socials for parents.

Olimpia Bakery
If you’re looking to try a European coffee or just like your coffees strong in general, head to Olimpia Bakery. Not only do they sell incredible baked goods (which can be bought for a discount on Too Good To Go), they serve hot and iced Greek coffee too. There’s also plenty of seating inside.
