I’ve considered 80+ carry-ons with laptop compartments and selected the 12 best on the US and UK market for all budgets. Read on to find out how to find the perfect carry-on which meets your needs.

What to consider when buying a laptop carry-on luggage with wheels?

  • Size of laptop: the carry-ons I’ve chosen fit laptops up to 17 inches. If you’re looking for an underseat option, I recommend the Samsonite Guardit 2.0
  • Front pocket protection and lock: the front pockets range from padded to polycarbonate hard shell, while a handful also have a TSA approved lock for extra security.
  • 100 day trial: Horizn Studios, July, Carl Friedrik, Antler, Db and Monos all offer a 100 day trial of your suitcase
  • Ejectable powerbank: Horizn Studios and July have options for an ejectable powerbank charger
  • Aluminium frame: For a robust suitcase frame, see Carl Friedrik and Rimowa which have an aluminium frame

Editor’s Choice

If I had to choose just one to recommend, it would be the Antler Clifton.

Antler Clifton

Best lightweight suitcase

  • Polycarbonate
  • Fits 15.6” laptop
  • 9.06 x 13.78 x 22.05 inch (56 x 35 x 23cm)
  • 7.28lbs (3.3kg)
  • 39L
  • Lifetime warranty, 100 days free returns
  • Lockable front pocket

Of course, when it comes to carry-ons weight is important. The Antler Clifton is the lightest carry-on in this list thanks to it’s polycarbonate hard shell which is light yet durable. If you’re not familiar with the brand, Antler have been making suitcases since 1914 and have 4+ star reviews on Amazon across their range. The Antler Clifton is one of their best selling models and now features a front laptop compartment. The front pocket even has space for a tablet too.

Aside from the advantage of being the lightest carry-on, it’s also well priced when comparing features to significantly more expensive luggage on this list (a lifetime warranty at this price is the cherry on top). Despite the low price, the Clifton has a TSA approved lock for the main compartment and laptop pocket. However, the laptop front pocket is padded only whereas more expensive options have a hard shell. Another small negative is the laptop compartment maximum space is 15.6″.

I’ve ordered the list below by lowest price first.

TydeCkare

TydeCkare
TydeCkare is one of my favourite budget suitcase brands on Amazon. The cheapest carry-on with laptop compartment I can recommend, this has 361 5 star reviews on Amazon. Despite the low price, it fits a 15.6 inch laptop and still has TSA approved locks on the front pocket.

Samsonite Guardit 2.0

Samsonite Guardit 2.0
The only underseat suitcase with laptop compartment on the list (they are supremely difficult to find), the Samsonite Guardit 2.0 fits a 17.3 Inch laptop. Perfect for a couple days of travel, there’s still just enough space for a few items of clothing, not to mention quality from a global luggage brand.

Level8 Road Runner

Best value suitcase

  • Polycarbonate
  • Fits 17″ laptop and 10.9″ tablet
  • 14.4 x 10.1 x 21.5 inch (55 x 37 x 26cm)
  • 9.5lbs (4.3kg)
  • 38L
  • Lifetime warranty
  • TSA approved Front-pocket lock

I’m a huge fan of the Level8 range (I own the Level8 Voyageur) who produce quality luggage at an affordable price. The front pocket features a water-resistant polycarbonate shell with TSA approved locks for both the main compartment and front pocket. The front pocket also has a separate pocket which fits a 10.9″ tablet.

Level8 Grace

Level8 Grace
Level8 also have a cheaper carry-on with laptop compartment which is made from ABS, fits a laptop up to 15.6 inches and is expandable by 15%.

  • Ejectable power bank

July’s front pocket is protected by Aerospace-grade German polycarbonate shell. July also offer a unique removable soft laptop sleeve option. An ejectable power bank comes as standard along with an internal compression pad.

Monos Carry-On Pro

Best affordable suitcase

db ramverk front access carry-on

Db Ramverk Carry-On

Best eco-friendly suitcase

  • Polycarbonate
  • Fits 16″ laptop
  • 21.7 x 15.8 x 9.1 inch (55 X 39.5 X 23cm)

Horizn Studios M5

Editor’s choice (UK)

  • Polycarbonate
  • Fits 15″ laptop
  • 21.65 x 15.75x 9.06 inch (40 x 55 x 23cm)
  • 7.5lbs (3.4kg)
  • 37L
  • Lifetime warranty, 100 day returns
  • Ejectable power bank (upgrade)

I own the Horizn Studios M5 (review) and can attest to the overall quality. The smaller front zippered pocket can be difficult to access if the main front pocket is full or contains bulky items, so it’s usefulness is reduced to thin items like documents. The M5 is one of the more eco-friendly suitcases on the list, the front pocket is made of Vegan Hi-Core and nylon whilst the water-resistant lining is 100% recycled and the shell is partially recycled. There’s also upgradable version available with ejectable cabin-approved smart charger and compression pad inside.

Carl Friedrik Carry On Pro

Best robust suitcase

  • Polycarbonate
  • Fits 15″ laptop
  • 21.7 x 15 x 9.6 inch (55 x38 x 25cm)
  • 9.5lbs (4.3kg)
  • 43L
  • Lifetime warranty, 100 day returns

This Carl Friedrik features a large polycarbonate hard-shell front pocket which has two pen slots and a removable compression pad inside. If you’re looking for a carry-on that’s robust and extra secure, it’s a zipperless suitcase and has an aluminium frame.

Rimowa Essential Sleeve

Best luxury suitcase

  • Polycarbonate
  • Aluminium frame
  • Fits 16″ laptop
  • 21.7 x 15.8 x 9.1 inch (55 x 39.5 x 23cm)
  • 8lbs (3.6 kg)

The most expensive luggage on this list, but you do receive thee quality build of a Rimowa. The Rimowa Essential Sleeve features a padded front pocket. There’s also an underseat luggage option with front laptop compartment.
