I bet TLC didn’t find anywhere interesting to eat if they stuck to the same rivers and lakes that they were used to.
You’re missing out if you don’t delve into London’s alleyways and sidestreets.
Off the main roads away from the packed streets you’ll find these delicious hidden bakeries.
Here are London’s best hidden bakeries for cakes
Bageriet –
24 Rose St, London WC2E 9EA
The one that’s a small Swedish bakery
For a taste of Sweden, head to Bageriet.

You’ll know you’re near it because a wall of freshly baked goods smell hits you when you’re within a 50 yard radius.
Don’t be fooled by their small premises. They pack an unbelievable amount of Swedish treats, using every possible space – including the windowsill.

You’ll find everything from Princess cakes and cinnamon buns to coconut tops and jitterbugs.
They put cinammon in their hot chocolate. Genius.

Crumbs & Doilies –
1 Kingly St, Soho, London W1B 5PW
The one with the uniquely flavoured cakes
Kingly Court is tucked away itself, but Crumbs and Dolly is tucked away even further in an alleyway.
They offer towering slices of cake and make a mean mocha.
It’s not just the cakes that tower either. Their cupcakes are pilled high with a very healthy and generous dose of icing. Their creations include your favourite confectionery like Rolos and Snickers to unicorn themed concoctions.
And they have a large selection of vegan treats so no one has to miss out.

Kova Patisserie –
1 Kingly St, Soho, London W1B 5PW
The one for matcha lovers
Matcha is really good for you. So that means you can eat a lot of matcha cakes, right?!
Riiiiiiiight guys?
You’ll probably want to eat everything in Kova whether it’s matcha flavoured or not anyway. This Japanese patisserie does mille crepes, roll cakes and shortcake.
And you’ll need something to wash all that cake down. Kova have your back. Grab some organic Japanese tea too.

St John Bakery
3, Neal’s Yard, London WC2H 9DP
The one with the amazing donuts
If you want a normal sized donut that doesn’t mean you have to forgo dinner because the donut is so expensive (come on Doughnut Time, it’s awkward to eat and £5+ is too much for a donut), then head to St John Bakery.

St John Bakery donuts are the burlesque dancers of the donut world. Their filling oozes out and reveals a glimmer of its inside goodness…
*Wipes brow, shakes collar
They are also masters of delicious bread. But that’s another list for another day…
