What Should I Order at Duck and Waffle?

Duck and Waffle is the best starter, main and dinner I’ve had in London. I wanted to try everything on their menu.

You simply have to order the Duck and Waffle. The confit duck melts off the bone at first sign of a knife and fork, the fried duck egg yolk perfectly oozes on top and there’s sweet mustard maple syrup to top that all off.

We also ordered the spicy ox cheek donut with apricot jam donut. Yep, an inventive mix of flavours and textures that work together somehow.

And to start, we ordered a freshly baked bread from the menu (I forgot to take a photo because I wanted to dig in…). We opted for the nduja and gruyere bread which was super hot for our palettes. But man, you could tell that bread was freshly made as it arrived warm at the table! Probably the best bread I’ve had in London!

Oh, did I mention the view? I suppose everyone else has. But here’s my photo anyway.

View from the top of Duck and Waffle, 110 Bishopsgate

Even the clear glassed wall elevator ride up to the 40th floor of 110 Bishopsgate was exciting. It travels at 5mps and takes just 40 seconds to reach the top! 110 Bishopsgate is one of the tallest buildings in London, making Duck and Waffle one of the highest restaurants in London along with Ting, Hutong, Oblix and Aqua at the Shard, Fenchurch Seafood Grill Darwin Brasserie at the Walkie Talkie building and Galvin at Windows at The Hilton.

We were lucky to be sat next to a window (we requested a window seat when booking). Looking out 160 metres over east London definitely adds to the experience, so I’d recommend requesting a window seat too. If you are sat in the middle of the restaurant, don’t worry. The windows are floor to ceiling long so you can still gaze out over the city.

Oh and they have gorgeous tiles too.

Does Duck and Waffle have a dress code?

The dress code is smart casual at Duck and Waffle, we felt like getting dressed up though. The company have started to allow patrons to wear trainers apparently. Duck and Waffle have the right to refuse entry at their discretion however.

Should I book a table at Duck and Waffle? Can I walk in without a reservation? Is it really open 24 hours?

I recommend booking in advance online, especially weekends which can be reserved up two to three months! Duck and Waffle are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week so you could walk in at the early hours of the morning I guess without reserving a table.

Can you go to Duck and Waffle just for drinks?

Yes, to a certain extent. You can’t make reservations for the bar or terraced areas though as it’s a first-come, first-served basis. Preference is always given to guests with dining reservations. There’s a casual-elegant dress code too and parties larger than 4 guests are not allowed entry on a drinking basis only.

How do you get to Duck and Waffle?

The closest tube station to Duck and Waffle is Liverpool Street station on the Central line and it’s less than a 5 minute walk from there.

Is Duck and Waffle Local the same as Duck and Waffle?

Duck and Waffle Local in Haymarket is the same company and offers a much more relaxed atmosphere (without the views of course) and focuses on local produce. So if you’re not bothered about the views and just want to gorge on the delicious confit duck and more (menu) , definitely try Duck and Waffle local!
